This month in lieu of a speaker we will tap the “wisdom of the crowd” with an informal ‘Mastermind’ session. Our seed theme will be ‘OD Opportunities & Threats’.  Everyone will contribute their own thoughts as we discover where these emergent conversations will take us.

This theme is inspired by second half of the age-old SWOT analysis.  It’s also similar to “risk and opportunity management”, where we identify issues and then brainstorm ways to mitigate the risks and enhance the opportunities.

BUT — there’s one little twist for this session:  AI is off the table!  (Since many of us would identify AI is the single biggest opportunity AND the single biggest threat in OD.)  So we will need to dig a little deeper for this!

Mastermind sessions have been around for many years and take many different forms.  This informal version is an experiment that we could tweak for future use if needed.  Here’s the tentative structure we have in mind:

10 Min – Breakout 1:  Each person identifies/shares their biggest opportunity/threat
12 Min – Breakout 2:  This group selects one of each (including those heard in BR#1)
15 Min – Everyone:    Discuss each group’s selections;  Pick one of each to address
15 Min – Breakout 3:  Brainstorm ways to deal with the selected opportunity and risk
15 Min – Everyone:    Each group presents its findings;  All decide what to do for it
10 Min – Closing reflections and feedback on this experience

Prior to the meeting we are open to questions or suggestions to improve this little experiment.  We hope you will join us on August 13 to share in our collective wisdom as we explore future possibilities!
