Transformation:  Harnessing the
Power of Conflict and Connection 

 
During our September meeting we discussed what to keep, leave or learn to create the lasting results OD delivers, especially to clients who are convinced or considering a need for transformation in their organizations. This builds on our discussions in August on the perils of short-term thinking, episodic and piecemeal solutions, reactive and vision-less strategy, and the growth imperative and impact of team building and executive coaching.

In October we will continue this as we expand on the learning and letting go through facing conflict with Priya Parker’s newest book, The Art of Fighting.  In this new book she describes how “fighting” is the way to actually build resilient, fun, thriving, and meaningfully connected teams.

Conflict is relevance — she calls it heat.  It’s dangerous and it’s also necessary. We need skills and tools to begin holding the most important conversations of our lives. Priya says “we don’t fight with the people we don’t care about”!

• The power of a good debate
• Healthy conflict in the battle with loneliness
• Embracing discomfort instead of avoiding it
