Organization Development Education – March 10, 2011
Doctors Don and Tammy Ledbetter will take us on an exploration of OD education opportunities. Learning and improving OD knowledge and skills is an ongoing challenge for OD Practitioners and HR professionals. They will also discuss (among other things) their innovative approach that uses the internet for team-building.

Presenter Bio: Don Ledbetter is the Corporate Director of Management and Organizational Effectiveness with L-3 Communications, a leading provider high technology products for the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security. Don has a doctorate in business administration with an emphasis in organizational leadership, and he is now working on his second doctorate in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. He is certified by the Society for Human Resources Management as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). He is also a certified Knowledge Manager (CKM).
Don has an extensive background in human resources and business management. He has worked as head of Human Resources for: a steel manufacturer; a global manufacturer of robots; a high technology computer hardware, a software manufacturer; a biotech research and development firm, and for a manufacturer of aeronautics and space systems. He creates practical applications that improve top line business growth and bottom line profit performance.
Don takes leading-edge leadership, human behavior, and change theories, and applies them to create tools and techniques. In his role, Don coaches, mentors and supports corporate and division presidents and directors, in a wide capacity, from assisting in their short and long-term strategic decision making and planning, to creating innovative solutions that incorporate metrics, to problem solving legal and ethical issues. He is a hands-on strategic business partner with organizations and oversees organizational development, performance management, talent management, succession planning, employment law, knowledge management, and learning initiatives. His newest initiatives involve moving from Succession Planning to the next generation of Talent Resource Management and dealing with the impact of organizational knowledge lost due to retirement of baby boomers.
In addition to his professional business career, Don is an adjunct professor with the University of the Incarnate Word creating and teaching courses in the areas of leadership, management, human resources, organizational psychology, compensation, staffing, team building, and organizational development.
Don is recognized as a subject matter expert in human resources, organizational leadership by SHRM, Linkage, Inc., and in knowledge management by the International Knowledge Management Institute. He has peer relationships with: Warren Bennis, Marcus Buckingham, Jim Collins, Marshall Goldsmith, Beverly Kaye, Jim Kouzes, and Peter Senge. Don has been cited in Business Week and business journals and has served on panel discussion boards. Don is also a member of Mensa Limited.
