Students + Strengths for a Stronger America
(It’s About a Good Job!)

“If you were to ask me, from all the world polling Gallup has done for more than 75 years, what would fix the world?  . . .  I would say the immediate appearance of 1.8 billion jobs – formal jobs. Nothing would change the current state of humankind more.  . . .  “What does everyone in the world really want? How can we best prepare American students to get what they desire?”
Clifton, J. (2011).  The Coming Jobs War.  New York: Gallup Press.

Our discussion will address how talent isn’t enough to get a good job unless we invest in it and create a culture that allows it to flourish.

In our June meeting Dr. Richard Valenta will talk about how he has used a variety of Gallup tools (including StrengthFinders), both in public schools and at the university level.  He has recently introduced initiatives like “Strengths Academy” that have significantly improved student achievement and engagement to better prepare them for the new world of work.

Please join us for a lively exchange on how we can proactively help people succeed in new jobs and in new roles as their career evolves.  Richard will briefly review the Gallup Strengths concepts — if you have taken the StrengthsFinder assessment it may be useful to review your top 5 strengths before the meeting.  If you haven’t taken it you may find it very enlightening!  See Link1, Link2 or Link3 for resources & codes.
